Couples

Couples therapy can improve many areas of your relationship, including when you
  • have the same discussions (or arguments) over and over, with no positive outcome
  • either ‘give in’ or ‘refuse to negotiate’ on important issues such as money, parenting, time together (and apart), sex and intimacy
  • spend more time at work, with your kids, friends, or colleagues than with each other, creating mistrust, doubt, suspicion, hurt feelings, or resentment
  • feel pressure to present as a happy couple (even when you’re not)
And, couples therapy is most effective when you are willing to learn new tools and make some permanent changes.

Realizing your relationship is no longer as close, interesting, intimate, or passionate as it was and not knowing if you can ‘get it back on track’, can be very upsetting.  And, if only one of you is concerned or is willing to talk about it, you can feel rejected, confused, and alone.  But, don’t give up.

Men want their wives or partners to be happy and fulfilled.

Women want their husbands or partners to be happy and fulfilled.

However, when “the honeymoon is over”, real life issues impact how we
  • communicate
  • share time with family and friends
  • maintain our identity and independence
  • manage our finances
  • share duties, responsibilities, and power
  • react to each other
  • revert to old, ineffective habits
  • respond to each other based on old wounds or past hurts
Rather than medicating your pain with food, alcohol, drugs, work, or seeking comfort in others, try couples therapy.  Our work together can take some time as you each may have some other concerns you want to address before couples therapy can be truly effective.  You can enjoy life outside of work and parenting. You can have the relationship you want!

I’ll work to help you diffuse tension and marital discord, using insight, supportive interventions, and education to help you talk and listen to one another. I don’t ‘take sides’, but will allow you both to "be heard" and acknowledged in session.

I will help you identify what you need, how you can get it, and how to keep the cycle of loneliness and distance from returning. I specialize in helping people heal from their past and live in the present. I can counsel you individually or with your partner/spouse.

My fee is $125 per session and is paid at the time of service by cash, check, or in advance via credit card (using Paypal).  I can provide you with a bill to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.  Feel free to ask me about the risks and benefits of using your insurance, and whether I am a contracted provider for your plan.  You can reach me at (909) 260-2736 or via e-mail.
